The hardest part about blogging...

I haven't been blogging this summer, summer is normally my high time for blogging.  I love to capture all that we do as a family and that the kids do over summer vacation so that when they are older they can look back at all the memories I have saved for them.  Whenever I have a new blog that involves the kids my mother in law always emails right away with a comment.  I got to the point where if she didn't email me within a day I was disappointed (although that only happened probably once).  Sadly my mother in law passed away earlier this month after a 3.5 month battle with cancer at age 62.  It's been a really sad summer for all of us, as she was a fabulous person, and it's also left me not wanting to blog as I know there won't be a follow up email anymore.  As I write this blog I have tears streaming down my face, I am sad for me, I am sad for my husband, I am sad for my father in law, I am sad for her Mother, and I am really sad for my children.

I am 36 years old and still have both of my Grandmothers in my life (they are both 87, how lucky am I)!  My children are 8 & 10 and know what it is to loose someone you truly love.  Juliana has taken it harder then Tyler, I think age and gender have a lot to do with that.  I tell her all the time how she has to not be sad about the loss, but happy about the time she did have with her.  I tell her to remember all the fun they had together, and know she'll always be in her heart.

I don't quite think that her passing has really sunk in for all of us just yet.  I think that's how it is when you loose someone, you think you'll see them again, it's hard for the brain to process that you will never see them again.

I've been going through so many pictures of her, it's been quite fun to see her and my father in law when they first got together (in high school), and pictures of my husband when he was young.  I love photography, that's always been obvious, but when you are gone sometimes all people are left with are the images frozen in time, and that is my favorite thing about it.

This was taken in 1976 of Steve and his Mom, I love the decor, the emotion, the smiles:

And some with Juliana and Tyler:

May she rest in peace.

  1. As Dori would say, "Just keep blogging, just keep blogging, just keep blogging." LOVE seeing all the pictures, especially the one with Steve as a little kid! :)

She will be forever in your hearts.
